  • How to Steam King Crab Legs

    Something about eating with your hands, and working for what you are eating makes that tender lovin’ meat that much more enjoyable. Well, King Crab legs is one of a few ways to get away with playing with your food. Did you know that King Crab legs are already cooked when you purchase them? Why? King Crab legs are cooked on the fishing boats or immediately upon landfall to preserve freshness. They need only to be adequately heated before eating. One of our favorite and healthiest preparations is to steam those puppies.

    You want to let the water in the bottom of the steamer pot come to a boil, then add the crab legs in the steamer and cover. You’ll know they are heated all the way through when you can smell them. Roll up your sleeves and snag some scissors from the drawer. You can break the crab apart at the obvious places and then cut down the middle. From there you have a bowl of some fantastic crab meat. Out of 1lb of crab you’ll find that there is only 381 calories, 82g of protein and no carbs! You can add this to top off a dinner salad, or just eat it as is. ENJOY!

    • You should allow frozen crab to thaw in your refrigerator overnight before cooking and/or consuming.
    • The majority of crab cooking processes require a brief re-heat time of 5-10 minutes because our king crab has already been cooked.
    • King crab should be added to stews and soups around the last 5 minutes of the cooking process.

    Cooking Frozen King Crab Legs
    Most frozen crab legs are already pre-cooked so they will just need to be heated. When cooking frozen crab legs, we recommend that you place them in a colander or steamer over rapidly boiling water. The pot should be about one-third of the way filled with water. You will need to cover the pot and steam your frozen crab legs for about ten minutes or until they are completely heated.
