Sol Amon Day

On April 11th, 2006 Sol Amon was recognized by the city of Seattle for his philanthropic contributions to the Pike Place Market community; a neighborhood he had been a member of for over 60 years. Dubbed “The Cod Father” by the Seattle Times, he is known as the King of the Market. Today, Sol's grandchildren Carlee and Isaac run the day to day, keeping Sol’s charitable ideals in the core of their operation. Starting this year, Pike Place Market and it's surrounding community, honor Sol by celebrating ‘Sol Amon Day’; a commemorative moment recognizing his contributions to this iconic Seattle institution. To continue in their grandfather's footsteps, Carlee and Isaac have created ‘The Solomon Amon Entrepreneurial Fund’! This charity will help young business professionals get their start in the market through small grants for rent assistance, small tenant improvements, end/or equipment purchases needed to help them thrive. 100% of the first $15,000 in proceeds will go directly into this fund, earmarking a new cornerstone in Sol’s legacy.
